Melber also writes about law and politics for and anchors "Presumed Guilty" and "Rules of Engagement," two reported legal series MSNBC. Melber also guest hosts for MSNBC shows such as "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell," "The Rachel Maddow Show" and "All In with Chris Hayes," among others.

Previously, Melber practiced law for several years, specializing in First Amendment, reporter's privilege and copyright litigation. He received a J.D. from Cornell Law School, where he was an editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy, and is a member of the New York Bar. Melber has also written for a wide variety of publications, including The Nation, Politico and Reuters, where he continues to write an occasional column.
